Here are useful tips to apply to help you and your family to stay healthier.

  1. Organise a family physical activity competition. In my house, we sometimes do such activity contests. The last time, we had a skipping rope or dancing competition. Such a move makes everyone join in doing a physical activity.
  2. Organise inter-families or friends sporting competitions. The preparation for this competition alone will help to increase your physical activity
  3. Go for walks in the park with the family. Not only is it healthy, it also improves bonding.
  4. Family market day: Choose a particular day and go out with the family to shop for foodstuff for the house. This will expose each household member to the various types of foodstuff. It will also help them build an interest in adding a variety of food to their diet.
  5. Develop a family menu together: This will give members the opportunity to learn about healthy meals.
  6. Have a family cooking competition: This will also help members to learn how to cook as well as learn about healthy meals. This way, the family will not necessarily have to wait for one person for example, mummy or daddy, to eat.
  7. Have an agreed time as a family when each member sleeps to ensure every member gets enough sleep.
  8. Stock the family fridge with less fizzy drinks, ice cream and alcohol and more of fruits and vegetable.
  9. Invite a health professional, for example, a nutritionist, dietitian to the house to discuss health issues to stay well- informed. Let’s connect you to one of our professionals.
  10. Get a healthy lifestyle journal for the family. This will help each member of the family to keep track of their healthy lifestyle habit and for you as a family to discuss and support one another. If you are looking for a suitable journal to undertake this step, place an order for the “Become A Healthier You Journal“.
